The Centrico has been run as a bodega since the year 1862. The walls still bear pictures of the wine transports to Barcelona in around 1925. In 1939 it was converted into a café, and the last renovation occurred in the mid-1950s. The dark wood panelling, the large, curving bar, and the interior design are like one big seductive trip back in time. Friendly Señor and Señora Grau, the two owners, can still be met daily in the café, and they give this place its charm that is such a special feature of Barcelona's bars and cafés. Today's clientele at the Centrico includes local inhabitants, young artists, actors, musicians and tourists.
