The Rex cinema was opened on 24. December 1940. In 1969 Bonamusa totally renovated the Rex, making it the most comfortable cinema of its time. A ceiling with lights beneath it leads the public from the street into the auditorium, which with its capacity of 580 is rather small by Barcelona standards. The auditorium is a powerful purple-red colour, and the side walls are decorated with Bonamusa's typical geometrical and formal elements. - For 53 weeks, a total of 234,687 cinemagoers sat in this comfortable, generously designed movie theatre to watch Pietro Germi's film Signore & Signori (Italy 1965) - a truly great cinematic success.
